Andalusia: Granada and Cordoba

Cordoba was founded by the Romans and due to its strategic importance as the highest navigable point of the Guadalquivir River, it became a port city of great importance. The Romans built the mighty bridge crossing the river, now called "El Puente Romano". Later Cordoba became the capital of the Moorish kingdom of El-Andalus, and the Great Mosque, or "Mezquita" was build, which became one of the largest in the world.

Granada is a city near the Sierra Nevada Mountains and is famous for its Alhambra. This is one of the most brilliant jewels of universal architecture, a series of palaces and gardens built in the 14th Century. Besides this, the old town of Granda is worth seeing.
