India: Mandawa

Mandawa is a town in the Shekhawati region of northeastern Rajasthan. Shekhawati still has beautifully preserved houses of medieval Indian traders in typical Rajput style - wooden doors, bamboo thatched roofs, mud plastered walls and floors. But most famous are the fresco-painted walls. They offer fascinating insight into the skills and imagination of the artists who worked walls, ceilings and every corner of homes, temples, castles and palaces.
