Italy: Pisa and Lucca

Pisa is one of the greatest attractions in the Tuscany. It is the hometown of Galileo Galilei, the famous physician, who carried out his first experiments on the gravity of the Leaning Tower in Piazza dei Miracoli. The bell-tower is world famous, but it is only one of the fantastic buildings at the Piazza. Beside you can admire the Batistery, the Cathedral and the Cemetery. And if the architectural highlights of Pisa are finished, the city and it´s surroundings are so rich and beautiful for walking or biking, that visitors can stay for a couple of days in the area of Pisa.

Surrounded by the intact Renaissance walls, the town of Lucca can boast a well kept historical centre, where the medieval palaces form a natural line along the main streets. Lucca is one of my favourite cities at the Tuscany, because it is touristically not so high frequented and so it has kept it´s own atmosphere.
